Now you might be wondering, should I get a spray for my big day? How do I know I’ll choose the right place? What if I look crazy? What even IS a spray tan?

Don’t worry babe, you’ve come to the right place. We’re gonna cover it ALL.

The basics

what is a spray tan?

If you’re already a seasoned spray glow girlie, feel free to jump to the next page. If you’re a newbie, you’ll want to hear this.

Spray tanning is a much healthier and a less time consuming alternative to bed tanning. Instead of being fried by UV light, the skin is tanned via a safe sugar derivative called DHA. The spray solution is applied by a qualified spray tan artist through an air pressure spray gun.

You are usually in and out the door within 20 minutes. Yes, it’s pretty quick and painless! Unlike bed tanning which requires multiple visits over many weeks to achieve desired color, spray tanning is a one-and-done process.

Solution color is customized to your skin’s undertones and your desired darkness level (at least, it should be customized if you’re going to a good place... more on that on the next page).

Okay, so... why should

Ah… our favorite question! We know how important it is to look the best you’ve ever looked on your wedding. We know how stressful it can be to choose the right beauty providers (I switched my makeup artist 3 times LOL). And we especially know that there’s a BIG difference between a good spray tan and a bad spray tan–so this is an important decision.

Let me put your heart at ease. Not all spray tan are created equal.

Your wedding day glow - and any glow for that matter - MUST be customized to your skin tone and preferences.

Luckily at The Glow Dr we do all of that and more!

it goes like this...

Every new bride - or any client - receives an extensive color consultation where we discuss the timing and location of your event (yes location does matter), past history and results from sunless tanning, your skin type and moisture level, your skin undertones (using wrist vein color coding method), your desired darkness level and any small customizations you may prefer.

We then mix up your personal concoction of our SIXTEEN solution shades to give you a color that’s so natural that you can’t tell the difference between it and an old fashioned sun tan.

Your spray is then applied by one of our expert artists who are trained to evenly cover every curve of your beautiful self. A complimentary rolling treatment and finishing powder is applied for ultimate tan longevity and comfort.

Nails, hands, wrists, feet, and ankles are meticulously wiped and blended to ensure there are ZERO giveaways that this is a spray. ;)

Oh, AND... all of this is done with a complimentary glass of champagne!

The process

I don’t necessarily need to be darker... I just need my tan lines evened out. Can you do that?

Of course we can! About half of our brides find themselves in this scenario. We utilize two effective methods to even out your summer tan lines, and you don’t even need to go darker if you don't want to!

You should note 2 things…

• In cases where the tan lines are dramatic, we likely won’t be able to completely cover them, as spray tan solution is not opaque. But we still can definitely blend them and make them look less noticeable than they were!
• Tan lines are NOT the same as burn lines. Sunburns and spray tans do not mix. Spraying over a burn can result in extremely uneven and blotchy color. You should not spray tan if you have received any sort of sunburn in the last month. Use your sunscreen ladies!
  

Won’t the color rub off on my white dress?!

Absolutely not. We have sprayed well over 2,000 brides and never once gotten a single comment or complaint that the color rubbed off on the dress. Most of our staff is married and sprayed for their weddings and we can personally attest that no color showed up on the inside or outside of the dress no matter how hot the weather was or how much of a sweat we worked up on the dance floor.

We can be confident about this because contrary to ‘uneducated’ belief, spray tans are actually a skin reaction through DHA (the sugar ingredient) rather than a dye that sits on top of the skin. After you take your first rinse, there’s nothing to transfer!

Rest assured your dress will stay unharmed…at least from the tan. We can’t promise anything for the grass and red wine!

trial tan

Everyone’s skin takes in spray tan solution differently. Because of this, we strongly recommend booking a ‘trial’ tan before your actual wedding tan. You can time this as far in advance as you’d like. Just make sure it’s at least 2 weeks before your wedding tan appointment so that we can ensure that all of the old spray tan is completely off.

Lots of our future brides prefer to schedule their ‘trial’ tan for their bridal shower or bachelorette party. Heck, why not book a glow for both! You’ll look beautiful for every bridal event AND ensure your glow is perfectly adjusted for the big day.

We will follow up with you 2 days after your trial tan to check in and see if you would like anything adjusted for next time. This includes preferring the tan lighter or darker, wanting warmer or cooler undertones or even just needing certain body parts sprayed more or less.

Once we receive your feedback, we’ll add the notes to your client portfolio to ensure your wedding day spray is perfected to your preferences, right down to the finest of details.

Note that trials are not required. If you choose us last minute, we would still be happy to spray you. We almost always nail it on the first try anyways. Just be aware that we will want to go very conservative on darkness level since we do not know how much color your skin will soak in.

the big day

Your wedding day glow should be booked 2-3 days before your wedding. If you’re going to make us choose, 2 days is ideal. Make sure that you schedule the tan appointment to occur after all other bridal beauty appointments. This includes hair, wax, and nail appointments. Tan is last!

If you’re doing a destination wedding, don’t worry if you can’t time your spray for 2-3 days before. Your glow will last 8-12 days. Schedule your appointment for the day before you leave instead. Once you get to your destination, we know that hot tub can be tempting, but please avoid it until after the wedding in order to preserve that glow.

We do most of our sprays at our salon in Brookfield. We also offer mobile appointments where we come to you for ultimate convenience. For our brides that prefer mobile, we do offer a Bridal Package which basically means a discount for pre-paying for your trial tan and wedding tan. Coming to the salon? Book a Salon Tan.

Spraying with your groom? Even better! Many brides prefer their significant others to have a little glow too. If you’re booking a mobile appointment, there’s a section to add in the notes that you’ll have your groom spraying with you. If you’re coming to the salon, just book two back-to-back Salon Tans.

I want to spray with my whole bridal party!

Amazing!!! Bridal parties are our favorite AND they come with extra discounts for you. Get at least 3 girls (including you) together for a group glow and book a Tanning Party in the Salon if you’re coming to us or a Mobile Tanning Party if we’re coming to you!

Our salon comes equipped with a private VIP suite for bridal parties to relax while the girls get their glow, and a side of complimentary champagne. Let’s make a night of it!

Following all proper prep instructions & aftercare instructions is absolutely essential for your wedding day glow.

This is the biggest day of your life! Save yourself the headache and don’t cut any corners for this one. Follow these to a T.

I hesitate to use the word need for anything that we’re trying to sell you on, but in the spirit of not cutting corners to risk less-than-perfect results... you may want to listen to this one.

for your best tan...

The spray tan solutions we use are the most expensive and top-of-the-line solutions on the market, which is great! But it means that they don’t play very well with drugstore body washes and lotions.

Here’s why: the list of cosmetic ingredients that will screw up your tan is honestly endless... the synthetic oils, sulfates, fragrances, you name it. And they’re in almost every drug store body wash and lotion you can find. Use of these products will result in a tan that develops with blotches or streaks and fades quickly. Did you spend your hard earned money on this tan just to mess it up with Gold Bond? I don’t think so babe....

Our Lather Me Up body wash and Butter Me Up body butter won’t do you dirty like this. With a THICK pudding consistency and sugar cookie scent, plus organic shea butter and argan oil for deep moisture, you’ll be glowing from head to toe while taking out some much needed insurance on your spray investment. The hottest bride on the block. ;)
